The Tax Inspection Board stated that the claims that a large-scale investigation was launched covering all approximately 4 million vehicle sales in the 2021-2024 period or all citizens who purchased new vehicles during this period do not reflect the truth.
In the statement made by the Tax Inspection Board (VDK), it was stated that within the scope of the fight against the informal economy, transactions related to motor vehicle sales are monitored based on risk analysis, as in different sectors, and audit activities are carried out when deemed necessary.
The statement emphasized that these studies are routine and targeted audit activities carried out within the framework of the authority granted by the legislation, taking into account concrete data, risk indicators and analysis results, and the following statements were made:
“In vehicle sales processes, narrow-scope and risk analysis-based studies can be carried out for some transactions that are considered risky, such as off-invoice payment, unregistered collection, and non-documentation of accessory or additional service fees. However, as reported in some news, the claims that a large-scale investigation has been initiated covering all of the approximately 4 million vehicle sales in 2021-2024 or all citizens who purchased new vehicles during this period, do not reflect the truth. The work of our VDK Directorate is not a general practice covering all taxpayers or all vehicle buyers. It consists of ordinary audit processes carried out only for limited transactions and taxpayer groups that are deemed risky.”
“The fight against informality will continue in accordance with the law.”
In the statement, it was emphasized that the aim of the Presidency is to protect taxpayers who fulfill their tax obligations correctly and on time, to prevent unfair competition due to unregistered transactions and to ensure the security of public revenues and the following was noted:
“Our citizens and the public are kindly requested not to rely on news and posts that have not been verified, that have been expanded in scope, or that contain incomplete information. Our VDK Presidency will continue to carry out its efforts to combat the unregistered economy with a lawful, data-oriented, measured and risk analysis-based approach.”
