Mercedes driver defends the rules
The new generation of cars and, above all, the new power units, in this case the leading characters of the F1 World Championship Apparently he shares the criticisms.. On the one hand, there are harsh critics of F1 2026, such as Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, who now need to catch up (Verstappen has repaired it from the start, while Norris has repaired it on his way). On the other hand, the front runners, especially Mercedes, will not attack these new rules. Frederic Vasseur and Toto Wolff, for example, described the first 10 laps of the Australian GP – characterized by an opposing field between George Russell and Charles Leclerc – as the most spectacular in the last 10 years.

George Russell, Lando Norris completely “these cars suck, the 50/50 split between electricity and endothermic power doesn’t work” met his stance.
The Mercedes pilot, the new GP winner, responded as follows: “If he was winning, wouldn’t say the same thing – George Russell your words – You know, we were not happy with the stiffness and porpoise movement of last year’s cars, everyone had back pain and the drivers complained about it, but the McLaren drivers also said that there was no locker, when we looked at their cars we saw that it was there. So, everyone is always looking out for themselves, and we are all selfish in that sense. The truth is we had the same engine last year and McLaren did better than us, they beat us. Now McLaren’s engine is with us, the same as Williams and the same as Alpine, and we’ve done a better job than them so far. That’s how this game works.”
