Renault Trucks D wins 4 stars and CitySafe label in Euro NCAP evaluation
Designed specifically for distribution applications, Renault Trucks D earned 4 stars in the 2026 Euro NCAP evaluation. This evaluation program, which is a European reference for vehicle safety performance, has announced its latest test results targeting heavy-duty trucks. Renault Trucks D has also been awarded the CitySafe certificate, which is given to the safest vehicles in urban driving and for the protection of vulnerable road users.
Participating in the Euro NCAP evaluation for the first time, Renault Trucks D received a direct score of 4 stars, confirming the effectiveness of its active and passive safety features. The independent road safety organization also particularly highlights the quality of the driver assistance and collision avoidance systems available in Renault Trucks D.

Systems specially designed for urban use
Euro NCAP particularly praised the driver’s view:
Optional passenger side view door with lower glass that improves the driver’s direct view.
High-performance indirect vision systems: optional panoramic view and passenger side cameras.
Various features for a more comfortable driving experience:
Distance warning if the truck gets too close to the vehicle in front.
Advanced safety systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEB).
EuroNCAP: “Reviews of the Renault Trucks D truck ACC and AEB have proven to be extremely effective in rear-end collisions with other vehicles. “AEB also performed well in frontal collisions with pedestrians and cyclists.” Meanwhile, the latest update ensures that the AEB system is automatically reactivated after 15 minutes if it is disabled, providing uninterrupted protection for the driver and other road users.
Renault Trucks D’s total safe driving score was measured at 75%, collision avoidance at 59% and post-crash systems scoring at 80%.
Renault Trucks D also gained the City Safe certificate thanks to its wide range of safety equipment. This means that the vehicle is among the safest vehicles in urban driving and in protecting vulnerable road users.
Euro NCAP rating: pioneering road safety
Euro NCAP has been playing an important role in raising safety standards in passenger vehicles since 1997. Expanding its tests to include heavy-duty trucks as of 2024, Euro NCAP encourages the entire industry to adopt more advanced safety technologies and equipment. Renault Trucks supports this approach, which increases the safety of truck drivers and all road users.
Renault Trucks’ long-haul vehicle, Renault Trucks T, and its distribution model, Renault Trucks D, have been awarded both 4-star Euro NCAP and CitySafe certificates.
The 2026 rating is based on a 1 to 5 star rating covering three areas:
Safe driving: evaluation of driver monitoring systems, direct and indirect vision and driver assistance systems.
Collision avoidance: assessing how the vehicle responds to head-on collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, lane changes and low-speed maneuvers.
Post-accident systems: provision of information and emergency response accessibility for first responders.
