2023-2024 models of Volkswagen ID.4 are being recalled due to a possible manufacturing defect in the high voltage battery. Volkswagen Group of America announced that it is recalling a limited batch of 2023 and 2024 model ID.4 crossovers due to a possible manufacturing defect in the high-voltage battery. The issue involves cells where the electrode alignment may have shifted during production. If such a defect occurs, the vehicle may experience range loss and certain performance decreases. This is a risk that the automotive world approaches with particular caution.
Until checks and repairs are completed, owners are advised to follow temporary safety measures: parking the vehicle outdoors immediately after charging, avoiding leaving it to charge indoors overnight, not using Level 3 fast charging, and setting the charging limit to 80 percent. The battery will be examined at dealers and, if necessary, the suspicious module will be replaced without any charge to the vehicle owner.
