Using the most racing metaphor possible, one could say that Brad Pitt has not yet won the Grand Prix, but free practice has provided interesting results. No, we are not crazy and let’s explain: the much talked about film about Formula 1 starring the famous Hollywood actor, which has aroused rather conflicting opinions among fans of the Circus, has in fact obtained four nominations for the 2026 Oscars. F1 – The film, which also has seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton among its producers, seems to have been particularly appreciated by the Academy jurors who included it in the shortlist for three ‘technical’ awards – Best special effects, Best editing and Best sound – but above all in the most coveted category, the one reserved for Best Film. In this last category, success is really very difficult, with opponents of the caliber of Sinners, Bugonia, Marty Supreme and One Battle After Another, just to name a few of the favorite films. There is, however, much more hope in the technical categories, in particular in that for ‘sound’ and ‘special effects’, in which the F1 film certainly excels. To find out how the hunt for the statuettes went, we will have to wait until the night between 15 and 16 March, when the Oscar night will take place in Los Angeles.
