Discover the MINI.01 JCW Convertible, a one-of-a-kind model with over 50 custom features and a special two-tone paint job, showcasing MINI’s move into full bespoke production.
MINI has unveiled a one-of-a-kind JCW Convertible, custom-built for a U.S. client. This unique model features over 50 exclusive details and a special two-tone paint job, marking the brand’s first full bespoke project. This move is significant because it brings MINI’s personalization efforts to a level previously associated with Rolls-Royce.The Project and Its CreationNamed MINI.01, the project is based on the John Cooper Works Convertible and involved collaboration between the brand’s designers and the Oxford plant. The car was fully assembled in the U.K. but tailored to a specific customer, highlighting a personalized approach. This development format is new for MINI and represents a strategic shift for the brand.MINIThe creation of this vehicle is part of an expansion in factory personalization, allowing customers to choose key design elements. The company emphasizes that the project showcases the production site’s potential and flexibility in crafting unique cars. This brings MINI closer to the “individual order” format seen in premium brands.Design and Technical FeaturesA key feature is the three-layer, two-tone paint combining Midnight Black with a custom metallic green chosen by the client. The car is equipped with 18-inch JCW Rallye Spoke wheels, custom aerodynamic elements, and MINI SUPER SPECIAL 001 branding. Even the roof features a Union Jack motif, reinforcing the model’s British identity.MINIThe interior uses custom color schemes with green inserts, white accents, and MINI branding. Project logos are placed on the steering wheel, floor mats, and interior elements, while illuminated sills highlight the exclusivity. The technical base remains standard for the JCW, putting the focus squarely on design and customization.Significance for the BrandThis project shows that even mass-market premium brands are moving toward deep personalization. MINI is essentially testing demand for unique vehicles built for specific clients and sold as exclusive products. This is especially important amid competition from brands that already have active customization programs.MINI is taking its first step into the full bespoke segment, where uniqueness matters more than technical specs. The MINI.01 project demonstrates the brand’s readiness to compete not just in design but also in personalization. In the long run, this could shift MINI’s perception from compact premium to a more exclusive offering.
