Istanbul R&D Center, which is the “Single Center” that approves the road tests of all Mercedes-Benz and Setra brand buses, has completed the difficult winter tests in 2026. The R&D Center, which has been approving the road tests of electric buses in addition to conventional buses since 2019, tested the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro in Erzurum. Mercedes-Benz eIntouro, which successfully passed the tests under winter conditions and snow at altitudes of approximately 2,400 meters above sea level, is preparing for summer tests.

Mercedes-Benz Türk further reinforces its power in the global network with the title of being the “Single Center” that gives road test approval for all Mercedes-Benz and Setra branded buses in the world, with comprehensive long road tests carried out in Türkiye. With the data obtained from road tests conducted on real roads, real climates and real usage scenarios, it is aimed to maximize the durability and function performance of the vehicles before mass production.
Real Usage Scenarios
The test routes planned by the bus test department R&D teams are carried out in the temperature range from minus 30 degrees to plus 45 degrees and at altitudes ranging from sea level to 2,400 meters. While winter tests are carried out in the Erzurum region, summer tests are carried out in Adana-Mersin and Izmir regions. Thus, all climate and usage conditions that vehicles may encounter around the world can be simulated in Türkiye.
300,000 km road test
Introduced by Daimler Buses at the Busworld fair last year, eIntouro successfully passed the tough winter tests in Türkiye. All systems and components of the vehicle, which has passed 45 thousand kilometers of road testing, were tested during the drives carried out in stage combinations combining different road types. Mercedes-Benz Turkish bus R&D test unit carried out 300 thousand kilometers of road tests with 11 different vehicles in the winter tests carried out in 2026.
Mercedes-Benz Türk Chief Executive Officer Süer Sülün said in his statement on the subject: “Turkey strengthens its position as an R&D base with its engineering competence, strong R&D infrastructure and unique geographical diversity. The comprehensive test processes we carry out are of great importance not only for Turkey but also for Daimler Truck and Daimler Buses engineering activities around the world. Thanks to the comprehensive tests we carry out in real road conditions, we prepare our buses to the needs of our customers around the world with the highest quality and safety standards.” he said.
