The new F1 regulations under scrutiny The first three GPs of the 2026 World Championship have given clear answers: the new F1, despite showing lively races, urgently needs changes. And these changes will begin to be discussed at tomorrow’s key meeting in London, where the proposals will be presented and then put to the vote on April 20th. As always happens in these cases, the desire to change the rules depends on the competitiveness of one’s team. This time, however, all the teams seem to agree on at least one aspect: we need to improve qualifying, which must once again become a spectacle in which the drivers’ courage to push to the limit in every corner is rewarded. Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies admits it. Mekies’ words “You may like the format of the races foreseen by this regulation or not. However, I think that the fundamental thing is to ensure that the best riders remain at the top”, these are the words of the Frenchman. “We need to focus our attention on going full throttle in qualifying, traveling as fast as possible through corners and braking as late as possible. We are working on this with all stakeholders.” “There’s not much to improve. I think the regulations have produced incredible and surprising races. There are aspects that we want to improve because we want to go full throttle on Saturday. But we have all the tools to make sure we get the right balance,” he added.
