Mazda has confirmed that the Mazda 2 and CX-3 will receive next-generation models in Australia, though they likely won’t arrive before 2027.This comes despite global markets phasing out these aging models. Japan recently ended CX-3 production, and the UK has discontinued the Mazda 2.Vinesh Bhindi, head of Mazda Australia, stated the local office will continue selling Thai-built Mazda 2 and CX-3 models for the foreseeable future. Bhindi noted work is underway on new generations, but the company is prioritizing other projects first.Currently, the existing Mazda 2 and CX-3 remain strong sellers in Australia. Last year, 4,346 Mazda 2 units were sold, down 19%, making it second in the passenger car segment behind the MG 3 with 8,350 sales. The CX-3 led compact SUV sales with 15,429 units sold, a 16.4% decrease.
