The Mary Automobiles group celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year. Born in 1996 in a Peugeot dealership in Lisieux (14), the Normandy distributor has, thanks to acquisitions and diversification, become one of the largest automobile groups in France and has been among the top 20 distributors for several years.
The story begins when François Mary takes over the Peugeot dealership in Lisieux from Jean-Philippe Joncquart. Thirty years later, the family business now boasts nearly a hundred sites spread across Normandy and Hauts-de-France and more than 2,000 employees. The Group had 87 sales points in 2025 and marketed 19,515 new vehicles and 25,300 second-hand vehicles. It achieved a consolidated turnover of 1.09 billion Euros.
Over the years, the group has significantly expanded its scope of activity. Initially focusing on automobiles, Mary today distributes fourteen brands, including Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel, Renault, Dacia, Hyundai, MG, Volvo, Jaguar Land Rover, Alpine, Suzuki and even Isuzu. The distributor has also expanded into motorcycles, bicycles, parts, rentals and even automobile recycling. Thus, in 2025, it marketed approximately 800 new and 314 used motorcycles, as well as 657 bicycles.
name change
On the occasion of this anniversary, the group also dropped the name Mary Automobiles and simplified its identity to just Mary. This development accompanies the rise of the second family generation. Victor Mary and Charles Mary currently occupy strategic positions alongside François Mary, who is currently the chairman of the group.
Because the distributor now puts forward a strategy more focused on the circular economy beyond its growth. The group structured an integrated model that covers the entire life cycle of the vehicle. From the sale of new vehicles to second-hand resale, including maintenance, refurbishment through Prépacar and even recycling through Mary Recyclage, the distributor aims to control every step to extend the use of vehicles and reduce their environmental impact.
To celebrate its thirtieth anniversary, Mary is planning a series of trade events and events across all its outlets from June 2026.
