The Hyundai Tucson NX5 spy video shows a 2026 redesign with vertical lighting and hybrid tech. Learn about its digital cabin, plug-in hybrid range, and new features.
The next-generation Hyundai Tucson (NX5) has been spotted for the first time in a spy video, revealing a radical design overhaul. The crossover will feature vertical lighting, a new light signature, and a more angular body. Its debut is expected in late 2026, with a key focus on hybrid technology and a digital cabin.Moving away from the Sensuous Sportiness concept, the new Tucson adopts a stricter, more “chiseled” design inspired by the latest Santa Fe. The front end has become more vertical, with a flat hood and a distinctive “H”-shaped light signature.Daytime running lights and turn signals are now positioned vertically, while the main headlights have been relocated lower. A full-width light bar at the front is also anticipated, similar to the one at the rear. Overall, the model presents a more substantial, off-road-ready appearance with pronounced wheel arches.Screenshot from YouTubeHyundai is betting on its next-generation TMED-II hybrid architecture. The plug-in hybrid version is expected to offer up to 100 km of electric-only range, which puts it on par with class leaders like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.The interior will go fully digital, with the central screen growing to 17 inches and the instrument cluster to 9.9 inches. It will feature the new Pleos OS based on Android and an AI assistant named Gleo, capable of controlling vehicle functions via voice commands. Hyundai will, however, retain physical controls for key functions. An N version with over 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive is also expected, alongside an off-road-oriented XRT Pro variant with increased ground clearance and off-road tires. The Tucson remains a cornerstone model for Hyundai. This shift to a new design and hybrid strategy is a direct response to pressure from rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. Increasing the electric range and enhancing digital features should strengthen the model’s position in the global market.Given the industry’s push toward electrification, the new Tucson represents more than just a refresh—it’s poised to be a new growth driver for the brand in the mass-market crossover segment.
