Genesis is preparing a major update for its flagship sedan, the G90, which could be the first production vehicle in South Korea with Level 3 autonomous driving. The model is expected to be introduced in the third quarter of 2026. The pre-production prototype of the renewed G90 was seen during tests in Korea. According to local sources, this model will serve as a launch pad for the next generation autonomous driving technology. Genesis is positioning its flagship as a technological showcase and intensifying competition with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Tesla. What stands out is the Level 3 autonomous driving system. In certain conditions, such as on motorways, the vehicle can assume full control, allowing the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel and stop constantly monitoring the road. This uses a range of sensors including LiDAR, radars and cameras, managed by a new ADCU unit. Unlike Level 2 systems, the vehicle deals with situational awareness and gives the driver time to regain control. Genesis had originally planned to introduce Level 3 in 2023 but delayed it to improve security. Now the company continues this strategy by targeting the premium segment. The G90 aims to be a technological response not only to German brands, but also to Tesla, whose systems are currently kept at level 2+. The renewed Genesis G90 is much more than a make-up; It takes a step towards a new era in autonomous vehicles. If the technology proves reliable, it could set the standard for the premium segment in the coming years.
