The world champion finished in seventh position
Seventh place, one second from the top occupied by his teammate Oscar Piastri: Lando Norris he began his defense of the throne with a Friday marked by a few too many reliability problems that forced him into the pits especially in FP1.
In FP2 the McLaren was able to carry out his work program regularly, Norris was very fast in the final long run, while on the flying lap he paid quite a bit compared to Piastri.
“A difficult first daybut it’s nice to be back on track for the start of a new season – said Norris – This morning we weren’t able to complete as many laps as we would have liked due to some reliability issues, so we’re a little behind in terms of mileage. With these new rules track time is very important, so tonight we will have some work to do to recover. We have some interesting data to analyze from the second half of FP2 and we can learn a lot from what our competitors have done. We will work hard tonight and try to close the gap before returning to the track for FP3 tomorrow“.
