Audi and SAIC expand partnership for electric vehicle development in China

Audi and SAIC Motor strengthen their partnership with a new strategic agreement focused on electric vehicle development, including an innovation center in Shanghai for intelligent connected vehicles.
Audi and the Chinese automaker SAIC Motor have expanded their partnership by signing a new strategic agreement focused on electric vehicle development. A key component will be the establishment of an AUDI Innovation & Technology Center in Shanghai, dedicated to creating intelligent connected vehicles for the Chinese market.The new center will handle the entire development process, from software to user interfaces and driver assistance systems. It will prioritize digital features, including multimedia systems, passenger comfort, and AI integration.Since 2024, Audi has been cultivating a separate brand for China. The first model under this initiative was the E5 Sportback, introduced in 2025. An SUV, the E7X, is expected to debut in 2026, with another vehicle planned for 2027. Under the new agreement, Audi and SAIC will also develop four models based on the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), designed to accelerate the creation of new electric vehicles.This project’s evolution mirrors a broader industry trend toward localization. As competition intensifies, automakers are increasing their investments in regional development and technology.
