UK charge point operator Zest has completed a campus-wide rollout of 142 charging spaces at the University of Warwick, which it had kicked off roughly a year ago. It is not clear how power these chargers offer. Zest only states that the new charging infrastructure includes “both fast and rapid EV chargers”, offering greater flexibility for users. According to Zest, the network is expected to deliver a reduction of more than 15,000 tonnes of CO₂ over its lifetime. The installation supports the university’s commitment to advancing sustainable transport and reducing the environmental impact of campus operations. Zest will operate and manage the chargers for 15 years.“We are pleased to have worked with Zest to deliver this important step in our journey towards more sustainable transport on campus,” said George Saxon, Head of Transport Systems & Operations at the University of Warwick. “The new charging network supports our ambitions to cut carbon emissions, while giving staff, students, and visitors the confidence to choose electric vehicles as part of a cleaner future.”“By delivering one of the largest university charging networks in the UK, we’re making it easier than ever for people to switch to electric vehicles, added Zest CEO Robin Heap. “In less than two years, this project has confirmed the University of Warwick as a leader in EV infrastructure in the academic sector and sets an example of how campuses can lead the transition to cleaner mobility.”The completion of the Warwick project underscores Zest’s strategy to expand public access EV charging across diverse environments, including universities, local authorities, and business estates, as part of the UK’s wider shift towards sustainable transport infrastructure.
