MobED, the mobile robot platform developed by Hyundai Motor Group, won the “Winner” award at the 2026 Red Dot Design Awards. The new generation robot platform, bearing the signature of Hyundai Robotics LAB, attracted attention with its innovative design and advanced mobility.
Named “Mobile Eccentric Droid”, MobED was developed to be able to move stably in different ground and usage conditions. While the platform reflects Hyundai’s human-centered design approach called “Refined Edge”, it aims to integrate robotic technologies into daily life more naturally.
Hyundai Motor Group AVP Division President Minwoo Park stated that MobED’s success is not limited to technological competence alone and that they demonstrate the usability of physical artificial intelligence in real life.
The prominent features of MobED include the Drive and Lift technology developed by Hyundai and the Eccentric Wheel mechanism. Thanks to this system, the robot; It can move stably even on rough roads, sidewalks and inclined surfaces. Equipped with artificial intelligence-supported control systems, the platform can be used in different areas, from logistics to control, from delivery services to autonomous mobility solutions.
MobED, which was first introduced at CES 2022, later appeared before the technology world with its mass production-ready version at iREX 2025.
With the Red Dot award, MobED stands out as one of the strongest examples of Hyundai’s mobility vision that goes beyond the traditional automotive concept.
