Jaguar Land Rover North America is recalling some 2026 Land Rover Defender SUVs. According to a source, the issue affects vehicles produced for the US market and its federal territories, which may have been equipped with fuel tanks containing a manufacturing defect.The suspect tanks come from OP Mobility’s facility in Lozorno, Slovakia. JLR says that the tank wall around the inlet check valve may be thinner than specification. In everyday driving, that doesn’t automatically lead to a leak, but it does raise the danger of fuel escaping and igniting in a crash.JLR became aware of the potential fault on March 27, 2026, following a supplier report. The alert came after a Defender tank failed its final leak test. Subsequent checks uncovered material anomalies in other tanks that had initially passed the same test. So far, the company says it has not received any warranty claims or reports from owners regarding this defect.Dealers will likely receive official notice on or around May 7, 2026, while owner notifications should go out no later than June 19. The remedy is straightforward: the faulty tanks will be swapped out for new ones at no cost to owners. JLR confirms that the replacement components meet the correct specifications, and the supplier has been running stricter quality controls since February.For buyers in Russia, this advisory also carries weight.
