ADAS Prices Surge as DRAM Costs Inflate: BYD Hikes by 21%
DRAM memory price hikes inflate ADAS costs. BYD’s God’s Eye B package rises 21%, and experts predict 70–100% automotive DRAM price increases in 2026, impacting car buyers.

ADAS systems are getting pricier as component costs climb. BYD was among the first to confirm the trend: starting 1 May 2026, its God’s Eye B package will cost 21% more, rising from 9,900 to 12,000 yuan (approximately €1,200 to €1,500). The package bundles advanced driver aids, LiDAR, and the DiPilot 300 system. The official explanation points to growing global hardware expenses. The root problem is DRAM memory. These chips are essential for ADAS, digital cockpits, and infotainment, but they’re also in heavy demand from AI-driven data centers. With Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron controlling much of the supply, they naturally prioritize their biggest customers.S&P; Global data shows that SK Hynix has already sold out its entire 2026 production, and new orders now face lead times of over 58 weeks. As a result, automotive DRAM prices could jump 70–100% compared with 2025 levels. For car buyers, that means 2026 models loaded with advanced electronic aids are likely to carry steeper price tags. Compounding the problem is the fact that from 2028, older DDR4 and LPDDR4 will begin to be phased out, yet many vehicles are still built around them.
