At the Beijing Auto Show, BYD’s Yangwang brand unveiled the long-wheelbase U8L SUV, U7 sedan, and limited-run U9 Xtreme hypercar with extraordinary specs and luxury features.

Naumkin for .News The long-wheelbase Yangwang U8L SUV was shown: its wheelbase grows by 200 mm to 3250 mm, and the rear overhang is longer, yet overall length only increases by 81 mm to 5400 mm. That is because the spare tire carrier is removed from the rear. Instead of a swing-out tailgate, the U8L gets a drop-down tailgate with a lift-up glass section. Width stays the same at 2049 mm, while height drops 9 mm to 1921 mm.Other visual changes to the L version include less pronounced fender flares painted in body color (the base model has them in black), and unique 23-inch wheels with stationary center caps. The gold body color is exclusive to the long-wheelbase variant, and buyers can opt for 24-karat gold exterior trim — the car displayed in Shanghai featured this treatment.© B. Naumkin for .News The series hybrid system in the Yangwang U8L remains standard. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (272 hp) runs solely as a generator, and the e4 all-wheel-drive system with four motors delivers 1197 hp and 1280 Nm. Curb weight of the long-wheelbase SUV rises to 3595 kg (135 kg more than the base model), and gross weight exceeds four tons at 4210 kg (up 225 kg). Track width is increased by 5 mm at the front and 12 mm at the rear.© B. Naumkin for .News Also unveiled in Beijing was the Yangwang U7 sedan. It measures 5265 mm long, 1998 mm wide, 1517 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3160 mm. Its drag coefficient is just 0.195. Curb weight is 3095 kg. The U7 uses a four-motor electric powertrain producing a combined 1306 hp and 1680 Nm of torque. Battery capacity is 135.5 kWh, with range around 800 km on the CLTC cycle. Standard equipment includes active electro-hydraulic suspension, three lidars, five radars, 13 cameras, and an intelligent chip for autonomous driving. Inside, there is a curved 12.8-inch central screen, a digital instrument cluster, and separate displays for passengers.© B. Naumkin for .News The Beijing show also marked the debut of the limited-run Yangwang U9 Xtreme electric hypercar, which drew attention from enthusiasts and experts worldwide. Only 30 units will be made. It features an exclusive body color and record-setting specs. The U9 Xtreme is built on the revolutionary Yi Sifang four-motor platform, with each electric motor producing up to 555 kW (over 700 hp), total output exceeding 3000 hp, and a power-to-weight ratio of up to 1217 hp per ton. A torque vectoring system ensures stability and handling, with electronics analyzing road conditions and distributing torque to each wheel over 100 times per second.
