F1 Australia Qualifying, here is the super Mercedes engine
The result of the Melbourne qualifications scares the team’s rivals Mercedes. The issue is not so much the front row signed by Russell-Antonelli, but rather the gap of eight tenths given to all the competition. A gap mainly due to the power of the power unit built in Brixworth, at the center of controversy throughout the winter over the issue of the compression ratio.
The FIA has reached a compromise with the teams according to which the measurement of the compression ratio will take place at room temperature until 31 May 2026. Only from 1 June (and therefore from the Monaco GP onwards) will two measurements take place, one cold and one hot (130°C). But, considering today’s gaps, Lewis Hamilton wants more timely intervention.
Hamilton’s words
“I don’t know exactly if this advantage is due to the compression ratio. I hope this isn’t the case, and that it’s just a question of pure power: in this case, we need to do a better job. If it was a question of compression ratio, then I would be disappointed that the FIA allowed this to happen. It wasn’t in the rules and I will put pressure on my team to do the sameso we can become more powerful“This is Hamilton’s outburst.
“Will it last seven races? But by then the season will be overor in any case we will have lost a lot of points, on the other hand we are one second behind in qualifying“he added.
