The nightmare continues
No one would have ever imagined that Fernando Alonso could relive the nightmare of a season made an ordeal by the problems of Honda power unit and instead the two-time world champion, 10 years later, finds himself once again faced with a situation that is nothing short of desperate due to the Japanese engine.
THE’Aston Martin on Friday in Melbourne he finished five seconds from the top with Fernando Alonso and six with Lance Stroll. The AMR26s completed very few laps due to battery problems and only two remain available for the whole weekend.
The Spanish driver commented on an evidently dramatic situation from a sporting point of view: “We are stuck at box zero due to Honda’s problemswe had Honda problems in FP1 and Honda problems in FP2 – said Alonso – we came to this race with completely new parts, a new package to try, but today we couldn’t do enough laps. I hope that tomorrow the third free practice session will take place without problems. I am disappointed that, despite supplying spare parts to only one team, there are no spare parts or supplies available“.
