Against the barriers The second day of testing in Barcelona ended decidedly badly for Red Bull. In fact, thanks to a track made damp by the bad weather that hit the city of Catalonia, Isack Hadjar ended the afternoon session – after having inherited the car from Max Verstappen, who had driven in the morning – crashing heavily into the barriers at turn 14. The accident had no physical consequences for the French driver, who yesterday was the fastest of the day on day 1 of the tests, but caused quite significant damage to the rear end of the RB22. The accident took place about half an hour before the end of today’s test session, so it didn’t waste Hadjar and Red Bull too much time. However, considerable extra work will certainly be necessary on the part of the mechanics to get the car back into shape so as to be able to complete without problems the last day of work on the track that still remains to be carried out by Red Bull. However, at the time of the accident Hadjar had already well exceeded the 45 lap mark, demonstrating the good reliability of the single-seater which this year features engines made directly in the Milton Keynes factory.
