XPeng just shared details about the updated version of its X9 model. This large vehicle, known as a Multi-Purpose Vehicle or MPV, is designed to carry families in comfort while using the latest technology, and now it comes with even more battery capacity and some of the smartest computer chips ever put into a car.

One of the biggest changes for this version of the X9 is how far it can travel on a single charge. XPeng is introducing a larger 110 kWh battery pack made by a company called CALB-Tech. This battery allows the front-wheel-drive version of the EV to travel up to 466 miles. If you choose the more powerful all-wheel-drive version, the range is slightly lower at 441 miles. This is a decent step up from the older models, which used smaller batteries of 94.8 kWh and 105 kWh to travel between 404 miles and 460 miles.

When it comes to size, the X9 is a big machine. The updated model is now 17.42 ft long, which is 0.91 inches longer than before. Even with the extra length, other measurements stay the same. It is 6.5 ft wide and 5.84 ft tall, with a wheelbase of 10.37 ft. Because of the heavy batteries and sturdy frame, these electric cars weigh quite a bit. The all-wheel-drive model tips the scales at 6,041 lb, while the front-wheel-drive version is slightly lighter at 5,919 lb.

Performance is another area where the X9 stands out. The front-wheel-drive model uses a motor that delivers 235 kW, or about 315 horsepower. If you need more speed and grip, the all-wheel-drive version adds a second motor in the back. This extra motor provides an additional 135 kW, bringing the total power to 370 kW (496 horsepower). This gives the heavy van plenty of pull to easily merge onto highways or climb steep hills while carrying a full load of passengers.

XPeng is calling the X9 an “AI vehicle” because of the incredible computers inside. The updated X9 features three “Turing AI” chips that XPeng built itself. These chips are extremely fast, handling 2,250 trillion operations every second. Two of these chips focus entirely on helping the car drive itself and stay safe on the road. The third chip runs the “intelligent cockpit,” which controls the screens, voice commands, and entertainment features that keep everyone happy during long trips.

In terms of looks, the new X9 keeps the sharp, modern style of the previous version. XPeng made small changes to the front and back bumpers so the fully electric version looks more like the extended-range model. These small tweaks help the car look sleek despite its large size. Inside and out, the goal is to provide a premium experience that competes with the best luxury vans in the world.

Beyond its home market, XPeng is finding huge success in Europe, especially in Denmark. Even though it has been in the country for less than three years, it has become the top-selling Chinese brand there. This is a big deal because Denmark is a very competitive market where over 65% of all new cars sold are electric. Models like the G6 and G9 SUVs have helped the company grow month after month, proving that European drivers are ready to embrace these high-tech electric cars.

The company is growing all over the world at a very fast pace. From January to November 2025, XPeng delivered 39,773 vehicles to international markets, which is nearly double what they did the year before. By the end of November, they reached a major goal by registering over 2,000 new cars in Europe in a single month. With 321 service centers now open in 52 different countries, XPeng is making sure it has the support needed to keep its global customers happy as it continues to expand.

The price for the new X9 varies depending on which version you choose. In China, the fully electric models cost between RMB 359,800 and RMB 459,800, which converts roughly to $51,100 to $65,300. There is also an extended-range version that uses a small gas engine to charge the battery; that model costs between RMB 309,800 and RMB 329,800, or about $44,000 to $46,800, depending on the chosen trim.

People seem to really like what XPeng is doing. In November, the company delivered 3,234 units of the X9, which was a huge 161% jump from the month before. The vehicle is not just popular in China, either. It has been the best-selling electric minivan in Thailand for three months in a row. As more people look for EVs that can carry the whole family, XPeng is proving that a minivan can be just as smart and powerful as any sports car.
