Interest in electric and hybrid vehicles is rapidly increasing in Türkiye. The fact that 44 out of every 100 new cars sold in 2025 will come from these segments clearly shows the direction of the market. Market share increased by 71 percent in electric vehicles and 51 percent in hybrids; Thus, both segments rose to a rapidly strengthening position in both new sales and total vehicle park.
In the January-October period of 2025, hybrid and electric vehicle sales achieved a remarkable growth in the new car market. Of every 100 new cars sold during this period, 17 were electric and 27 were hybrid. Thus, the total share of both segments increased to 44 percent, almost doubling the level of 24.2 percent in the same period last year. Increasing demand increasingly affects not only the new vehicle market but also the second-hand market.
The market share of electric vehicles increased by 71 percent and the share of hybrid vehicles increased by 51 percent
While electric vehicles will constitute 1.1 percent of total traffic in 2024, this rate increased to 1.9 percent in the first 10 months of 2025. Thus, the number of electric vehicles increased to 332 thousand, increasing by 81 percent in terms of annual units and 71 percent in market share. Growth in hybrid vehicles is similarly strong. With a total of 624 thousand hybrid vehicles, its market share reached 3.6 percent; This means an increase of 59 percent in terms of units and 51 percent in market share compared to last year. The data clearly reveals that electric and hybrid vehicles are rapidly gaining ground in the Turkish market.
VavaCars Commercial Group President Serdıl Gözelekli evaluates this transformation as follows: “The position of hybrid and electric vehicles in the market is getting stronger day by day. Increasing fuel costs and the loss of the economic advantage of diesel naturally direct users to these segments. Hybrid and electric models, which offer economical, technological and comfortable solutions, have rapidly attracted the demand shifting from diesel and have become a strong alternative in the market.”
