The wait is officially over for North American buyers interested in the newest high-performance electric car from Polestar. The Swedish brand has started delivering the Polestar 4 SUV coupe to customers across the US. The Polestar 4 joins the larger Polestar 3 SUV, giving the premium automaker two distinct EV options ready for delivery, and it comes with a surprise that will excite many shoppers: a much lower starting price than initially announced.

Polestar now offers two different types of utility vehicles to shoppers. The Polestar 3 is a traditional, larger SUV, while the new Polestar 4 has a sleeker, coupe-like design, which is popular right now among drivers. This strategy of offering variety matters greatly to the company’s North American success.

Rick Bryant, the Head of Polestar North America, noted that the new model plays a key role right next to the US-built Polestar 3. Having two unique SUVs available for customers to drive right away is a big win for Polestar and its retail partners across the continent.

The delivery journey began in the country’s second most active EV market: Florida. The very first Polestar 4 found its home at the Polestar Miami retail location – the newest and largest store the brand has opened in the state. Polestar claims that Florida now serves as its second-largest sales market, trailing only California. The company confirmed that deliveries will pick up speed across the US and Canada in the next few weeks, ensuring that buyers who already placed orders can soon get behind the wheel.

The most pleasant surprise for buyers is the adjusted pricing. When Polestar first opened orders for the 4 in North America, the starting price was $54,900. Later, it shifted to $56,400 for the model initially destined for South Korean assembly. As the first cars arrive, the prices listed on the company’s website are much more aggressive – a welcome development for anyone following the EV market.

Shoppers can now configure the rear-wheel-drive, single-motor Polestar 4 starting at an MSRP of $46,400. This version delivers 272 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque, which is enough to get it from a standstill to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds. EPA range is quoted at 310 miles and the Polestar 4 supports charging speeds of up to 200 kW. Charging it from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes at a public DC charger, and home charging at 11 kW from 0% to 100% takes a leisurely 11 hours.

For buyers who need more power and all-wheel drive, the Long Range Dual Motor version starts from $52,900. This model has 544 horsepower on tap and 506 lb-ft of torque – that translates to a 0-60 mph sprint of just 3.7 seconds. That extra performance takes its toll on the range, with the dual-motor getting 280 miles on full charge. Polestar notes these lower prices are part of a limited-time offer, but they certainly improve the value proposition, making the Polestar 4 an even stronger option for consumers looking for a new EV.

The arrival of the Polestar 4 in North America took quite a while. Polestar unveiled the crossover in 2023, and deliveries for Chinese customers started later that same year. The first vehicles started arriving across Europe and Australia in 2024. Unfortunately, North American customers had to wait a little bit longer.

The company faced challenges, including the need to appoint a new CEO and navigate potential issues related to trade tariffs. These factors caused Polestar to reorganize its plan, resulting in the car being sold as a 2026 model year in June of this year. We learned then that the models headed to the US would be assembled in South Korea – a big change from the initial China-built units.
