Isuzu UK held its 15th annual dealer awards on 30 April, with 15 categories recognising outstanding achievements from across its dealer network. More than 140 guests joined Isuzu UK management at its annual conference and dinner to recognise exceptional performance across not only sales and aftersales but also individuals’ contributions within Isuzu dealerships.
York Van Centre, consistently a high achiever across many aspects of its Isuzu business, was announced as overall Dealer of the Year, also taking the top award in its area and completing a triple haul with the Finance Dealer of the Year title. Eaglesham Garage in Glasgow was announced Dealer of the Year for Excellence in Customer Service, recognising the team’s professionalism throughout the business and the commitment to customers by every department.

The Isuzu UK Special Recognition Award was presented to George Mackenzie of Corrie Motors Isuzu in Inverness. George started working in the Mackenzie family garage in 1968 while still at school, with Isuzu added to the franchise portfolio in 2014. The award celebrated George’s passion for the automotive industry and his partnership with Isuzu, as well as his dedication to customers and staff with some employees spanning decades.
Other individuals recognised for their commitment and contribution to Isuzu’s UK network representation were Jason Ditchburn of Ditchburn Truck Services in Merseyside; Dave Matthews of Startin Tractors Isuzu in Atherstone; and Mark Bond of Roger Young Isuzu in Saltash, Cornwall. Each was nominated by Isuzu UK’s regional managers as Heroes of Isuzu UK.
Parts Dealer of the Year went to Roger Young: the third consecutive year the dealership has won the award. Accessories Dealer of the Year was presented to S&S Services in Ayr, with the Marketing award going to David Taylor Garages in Crickhowell.
Retailers in each of Isuzu UK’s sales regions were recognised with area Dealer of the Year awards, which were presented to Startin Tractors of Twycross, Roger Young, and Antrim’s John Barr Cars, along with area and overall winner, York Van Centre.
The conference and awards were held at The Belfry, Birmingham under the theme ‘Power Through’. Alan Able, Managing Director of Isuzu UK said: “We thank all our dealers for their ongoing enthusiasm and commitment to Isuzu UK. We have an exciting period ahead, with the launch of the recently showcased Isuzu D-Max 2.2 diesel pick-up and the first all-electric D-Max EV. These awards highlight the passion shared for the Isuzu brand as well as formally recognising dealers who have delivered exceptional performance within their businesses. We congratulate our winners and recognise all our Isuzu UK partners, as we power through the next 12 months with new products and a strong retail network.”
Tony Huggins, owner of York Van Centre, said: “Wow. I can only say ‘happy days’! We are very committed to Isuzu and we’ve won our fair share of awards, but to take three big titles this year is very special. Of course it’s the whole team that deserves the recognition: it simply wouldn’t happen without them, and after celebrating we’re all looking forward to another exciting year ahead.”
George Mackenzie, owner of Corrie Motors Isuzu in Inverness, said, “I’m just stunned, this award was so unexpected but of course, whilst it’s me who has been singled out it’s the team behind me that’s made this happen. There is a real family feel, both in our dealership and within Isuzu UK. It’s a great brand to be involved with and I’m incredibly honoured.”
