We tested the Opel Frontera 1.2 hybrid SUV model of the brand, which belongs to the Stellantis automotive group and has a new entry into the Turkish market, with an automatic transmission that produces 136 horsepower and an electric motor version that provides 21 horsepower extra power. German automotive manufacturer Opel’s new SUV model Frontera, which stands out as a strong interpretation of a bold and minimalist design philosophy, attracted attention from the moment it went on sale in Türkiye. Returning to the stage after its first two generations, the new Opel Frontera is positioned as the newest and most assertive player in the B-SUV segment. Frontera offers an experience close to the C-SUV segment. With its minimalist design, spacious interior and functional solutions, Frontera will appeal to various customer groups and is ready to accompany both families and individual users on their daily adventures.

First introduced in 1991, the Frontera was Opel’s first SUV and cemented its place in automotive history as one of the pioneers of the SUV revolution. Today, the new Frontera stands out as an immediately striking modern SUV that strongly reflects Opel’s design language. With its unique front silhouette and functional, spacious interior, the new Frontera seems to have gained the distinction of being a practical SUV experience by combining aesthetics and durability.

The new Frontera carries the “Lightning” logo in the middle of the Opel Visor instrument panel. Offering a flawless design, Visor combines with Eco LED headlights with automatic high beam feature and completes the modern and striking appearance of the car. The new Frontera is also equipped with an Intelli-LED lighting system, which aims to make night driving safer and more comfortable for Opel customers.

Advanced lighting technology minimizes driving stress while providing excellent visibility. In addition to the lighting, the design supported by the isosceles cooling vents at the bottom further emphasizes the strong and solid stance of the vehicle. Opel adds a modern interpretation to the vehicle with its iconic “wing” design signature and triple lighting blocks surrounded by body color details. When viewed from the side, the prominent C-pillar, which visually divides the spacious cabin, attracts attention.

Additionally, the distinctive fenders and wheel arches reinforce the vehicle’s strong stance on the road, giving it a modern SUV appearance. The black roof offered on the GS trim level creates a unique and modern side profile. The new Opel Frontera further emphasizes its solid appearance with the 17-inch alloy wheels offered in the GS hardware level.

The new Frontera brings together smart and practical design in its interior. Decorative details on the instrument panel and doors make the cabin visually more spacious. Additionally, the new steering wheel with a bold and stylish look adds a touch of sophistication with the fully digital Pure Panel cockpit featuring two 10-inch displays and Opel’s signature detox effect. Frontera promises a simple and practical driving experience by consistently reflecting the philosophy of maximum comfort with minimum distractions. The color touch-screen multimedia system, offered as standard in entry-level equipment, can be personalized like a smartphone thanks to widget support and offers users an easy experience.

The seats attract attention with their striking designs and contrast stitching. Surfaces such as fabrics and door panels are made from recycled materials. It features recycled fabrics obtained entirely from sustainable sources. The same approach is evident in the lighting units of the new Frontera, which features energy-saving Eco LED headlights. Additionally, the steering wheel in the GS equipment package is made of vegan synthetic leather.

The new Opel Frontera offers a large living and loading space with its 4,380 mm length, 1,795 mm width and 1,627 mm height. The luggage capacity exceeds 460 liters with the rear seats upright, and increases to 1,600 liters when the seats are folded. Additionally, 40/60 split-folding rear seats provide additional versatility, while a second-level load floor is standard. Thanks to the roof rails in the GS hardware level, the new Frontera can carry a fixed roof load of up to 240 kilograms.

The new Opel Frontera Hybrid is offered with a turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 145 HP (107 kW) maximum power thanks to 48-volt hybrid technology. Its compact system, consisting of a 1.2-liter gasoline engine, 21 kW (28 HP) electric motor and 6-speed dual-clutch electric transmission, offers many economical usage advantages.

Advanced driver assistance systems in the new Opel Frontera enable drivers and passengers to reach their destination safely and comfortably, while also meeting the same expectations of other road users. The model’s electronic driver support systems include Active Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning with Pedestrian Detection, Driver Fatigue Detection System, Blind Spot Monitoring System and panoramic rear view camera.

Frontera Hybrid SUV, which has a hybrid powertrain system that plays a leading role in the transition to electric vehicles, was tested in every aspect in a unique way under all kinds of road conditions during our test drive. The new Frontera Hybrid SUV stands out from similar hybrid SUVs launched recently, especially in our test drive, thanks to its energetic and highly efficient engine. From this perspective, the new Frontera Hybrid SUV offers its customers an energetic, fast and extremely economical engine.
