These pages explain the background of the new feature and outline how to activate it.As previously reported, “MultiPass” connects “1,000 charging networks and thousands of charging stations across Europe.” Tesla customers are automatically registered for “MultiPass,” and can then locate third-party charging stations on the “vehicle’s touchscreen or in the Tesla app and pay for your charging session with your Tesla Account.”Inside the vehicle, users must activate the option “Display third-party charging stations” under navigation settings to view non-Tesla chargers on the map. Access via the Tesla app is also possible, but only after Tesla has enabled the feature for each user. “We will notify you in the Tesla app when you can activate Tesla MultiPass,” the company explains. “You can also enable Tesla MultiPass by selecting ‘Tesla MultiPass’ in ‘Manage Payments’ in the Tesla app.” However, in an initial test by electrive in Germany, this option was not yet available in the app, and the vehicle only displayed Tesla Supercharger prices, even with the latest software version installed.Tesla highlights that “the charging cost depends on your selected third-party chargers.” While all charging sessions can be paid for centrally through the monthly invoice linked to the Tesla account (using the default payment method, but not a stored charging card), the price per kilowatt-hour varies depending on the operator. Customers are thus advised to check the Tesla app or in-vehicle display before starting a charging session at a third-party station to confirm pricing and any additional fees, such as idle or blocking charges.Charging at supported non-Tesla stations can be initiated either via the Tesla app or using the vehicle’s black key card.
