TEGV Reached More than 48 Thousand Children with Traffic Trainings

Turkish Education Volunteers Foundation (TEGV) has provided traffic education to more than 48 thousand children across Türkiye with the training programs it carries out in order to increase traffic awareness in children and inculcate safe behavioral habits.

Turkey Education Volunteers Foundation (TEGV), which contributes to the upbringing of modern generations in the light of the principles and values ​​of the Republic with the vision of “One Child Changes, Turkey Develops”, continues to provide qualified education support to primary school children free of charge. To date, more than 3 million 350 thousand children have received educational support in dozens of different fields, from informatics to art, from mathematics to English, through the educational activities carried out at TEGV activity points and schools. One of the contents that focuses on the academic, social, emotional and cognitive development of children is traffic education. TEGV supports children in gaining traffic awareness at an early age with the Traffic Firefly Learning Unit and the Stars of Traffic training program. Thanks to educational content developed for different age groups, children develop safe behavior skills while learning traffic rules with fun and applied methods.

Interactive learning experience with Traffic Firefly

Traffic Firefly Learning Unit, a lively activity point where the truck trailer is specially designed for children, has held events in 15 cities since 2013 and reached 30 thousand 458 children. Traffic rules in Traffic Firefly, thanks to the program developed for primary school children; It is conveyed through simulation-oriented, interactive and entertaining methods.

Training supported by applications based on real-life scenarios ensures that children are prepared for the situations they may encounter in traffic and contributes to the acquisition of safe behavioral habits at an early age. Traffic Firefly continues its activities with the support of Shell Türkiye since 2023.

Non-formal and sustainable education with Stars of Traffic

Another important work of TEGV in the field of traffic, the Stars of Traffic training program, was implemented in 2023 within the scope of cooperation with the Department of Student Affairs and Social Activities of the Ministry of National Education, General Directorate of Basic Education. The program, specially developed by TEGV, continues to be implemented at activity points and schools throughout Türkiye.

Within the scope of the program, which was prepared to make children visible in traffic, learn basic traffic rules and gain safety-oriented awareness, activities have been held in 471 different schools in 26 provinces so far. With the support of 1,412 volunteers, a total of 17 thousand 594 children were reached and 80 thousand 560 hours of traffic education were given.
