Earlier this week, the BMW Group was awarded two major awards at the annual Autocar Awards. The all-new Neue Klasse architecture received the prestigious Mundy Engineering Award at the 2026 Autocar Awards. The Mundy Award is a highly respected award that recognizes outstanding engineering achievements in the automotive industry for their outstanding technical contributions and innovations. The Neue Klasse architecture underlines the future BMW model portfolio, with the BMW iX3, BMW 7 Series and BMW i3 already announced, and up to 40 new or updated models to be launched over the next two years. Speaking about its origins, Neue Klasse President Mike Reichelt said: “We have done everything and pushed the limits of every technology to take BMW into the future. The end result feels like a BMW, but a thoroughly modern BMW and a new interpretation of what a BMW should be. And that is the highest compliment we can receive.” The Neue Klasse architecture marks the first time since Autocar’s inaugural awards ceremony in 2017 that a ‘product’ rather than an individual person has received the award. MINI also triumphed on the night as Autocar named the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) as the winner of the 2026 Future Classic Award.
