Automotive giant Stellantis opened its new vehicle dismantling center in Morocco within the scope of sustainability and circular economy targets. The facility, which started operating in Casablanca, is the company’s third vehicle dismantling center in the world and the first in the Middle East and Africa region.
In the center, which was implemented within the scope of the company’s SUSTAINera strategy, vehicles that have completed their useful life will be dismantled and reusable parts will be brought into the economy. At the same time, it is aimed to reduce environmental waste through recycling processes.
An investment of 1.6 million Euros was made for the facility built on an area of approximately 6 thousand square meters. The center, which has an annual processing capacity of 10 thousand vehicles, will employ approximately 150 people when it reaches full capacity.
The new facility will serve not only the Moroccan market but also the Sub-Saharan African region. Thus, Stellantis will increase its operational power in the region and expand its sustainable mobility investments.
Company officials emphasized that the circular economy plays a critical role in the future of the automotive industry, and stated that the new center will optimize resource use and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.
