Rosberg and the anecdotes about Michael Schumacher Since he retired after winning the 2016 world championship, Nico Rosberg has often been seen in the Formula 1 paddock, where he is acting as a commentator for the various branches of Sky. His discussions are frank and honest and the former driver often refers to episodes that occurred during his career on the track. One of his strong points is the one relating to the psychological games that Michael Schumacher played against him in the three-year period 2010-2012 in which they both shared the Mercedes garage. In particular, Rosberg loves to tell the anecdote relating to the seven-time world champion’s prolonged stay in the bathroom, which according to him was designed to make his teammate nervous just before the start of a grand prix. A little story heard already in 2017 and repeated several times also during 2025, in short, an evergreen of Rosberg’s stories. Ralf’s piqued response In an interview given to the Germans Sport1, Michael’s brother Ralf wanted to respond in kind to Nico Rosberg, probably exasperated at always listening to the same anecdotes.
Ralf Schumacher in fact thundered: “He continues to tell stories about my brother, about alleged psychological games in bathrooms or in parking lots. I know Michael and at the time he was in a completely different moment in his career. In the end Nico should have simply pushed harder. Finding himself behind a 43-year-old driver in Monaco says it all…”, the German concluded with a jab in reference to Michael’s pole in Monte Carlo 2012.
Ralf Schumacher stops Rosberg on the anecdotes about Michael: “In Monaco you were behind a 43 year old…”
