Porsche Cayenne Electric makes first public appearance in Dubai

Porsche just put the Cayenne Electric in front of the public for the first time, and the reaction was immediate. The debut took place at the Icons of Porsche event in Dubai, marking the start of a new chapter for one of the brand’s most popular SUVs. This isn’t a future concept or a distant promise. The fully electric model is now available to order in the United States.

The timing matters because the Cayenne has been a steady seller in the U.S. for more than two decades. Porsche is adding the electric version alongside the current gas and hybrid models instead of replacing them. Early signs show customers are paying attention, and Porsche’s online tools have been working overtime as buyers explore their build options.

Public debut and strong demand

Following its debut in Dubai, the Cayenne Electric generated significant interest in the U.S. The Porsche USA configurator logged more than 110,000 completed builds in just four days, setting a record for the model line. Porsche says the electric Cayenne offers 13 standard exterior colors, nine wheel designs, and 12 interior combinations. Customers can also expand into Paint to Sample colors and individual one-off builds through the Sonderwunsch program.

Porsche reports that 10,500 people have already raised their hands in response to the vehicle. According to the company, the Cayenne Electric is a new ground up model and will be sold alongside existing internal combustion and hybrid versions. The first vehicles are expected to reach U.S. dealers in late summer 2026.

Restored first-generation Cayenne

The debut also shared the spotlight with a fully restored first-generation Cayenne. Built for a private customer through the Sonderwunsch program, the SUV was refinished in a Paint to Sample Blackolive exterior with an English Green interior. Porsche says the project brought a 16-year-old model back to new condition and highlighted the continued enthusiasm surrounding the Cayenne nameplate. The model remains a key seller, totaling 22,432 U.S. sales in 2024.
