OMODA is set to elevate its popular C5 lineup with the introduction of the C5 SHS, a sleek coupé-esque hybrid, arriving in South Africa this March. Building on the success of the C5 as Brand O&J’s best-selling model, the C5 SHS combines refined performance, advanced hybrid efficiency, and a feature-rich interior, offering a compelling option in the compact crossover segment.
At the heart of the C5 SHS lies a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and a 1.83 kWh LFP battery, producing a combined output of 165 kW and 310 N.m of torque. This powertrain delivers strong on-road performance, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds, while its efficiency credentials are equally impressive. The hybrid system achieves fuel consumption of 5.3 L/100 km, enabling drivers to cover more than 1,000 km on a single tank, with CO₂ emissions as low as 120 g/km. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through OMODA’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), ensuring smooth, seamless delivery.
OMODA’s Super Hybrid System enhances refinement by prioritising electric propulsion, allowing the petrol engine to assist only when necessary. The result is a quiet, composed driving experience, further supported by noise-suppressing glass for reduced cabin disturbance.
The C5 SHS also embraces advanced technology and safety. The interior features a 12.3-inch dual-screen layout with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, complemented by 20 driver assistance systems including Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Lane Change Assist. Passengers will enjoy a premium environment with black leather upholstery, an eight-speaker sound system, a power-operated tailgate, and a sunroof, combining convenience, luxury, and style.
