According to the regulation renewed by the Ministry of Commerce, air transportation will now be carried out only through airport customs directorates, and consignment items whose sales are not completed within one year will be sent back to Türkiye.
The Ministry of Commerce made changes to the communiqué regarding the customs procedures of goods transported via postal and express cargo.
According to the regulation published in today’s issue of the Official Gazette, fast cargo transportation by air will now be carried out only through airport customs directorates. Road transportation will be carried out in directorates determined by the General Directorate of Customs.
Unsold items will be sent back
According to the new regulation, it has become mandatory for the goods sent on consignment via mail or express cargo to be sold definitively within 1 year from the date of export, and the period will not be extended. Items that cannot be sold will be brought back to Türkiye within the scope of customs legislation.
A simplified customs declaration will be issued for the goods in question and a proforma invoice will need to be added. Separate sanctions (penalties) will be applied for each transport bill. However, if the correction issue in more than one transport bill relates to the same data field, the penalty will only be applied on the relevant simplified declaration.
