Maruti Suzuki’s AI-heavy fifth batch reflects how quickly generative AI is moving from the experimental phase to the corporate acquisition phase. Maruti Suzuki has onboarded five startups through the fifth batch of its incubation programme, organized in partnership with the startup support center of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. MiniMines, Easework AI, Sarvam AI, Siftly and CodeMate AI will develop solutions in battery recycling, purchasing automation, customer engagement and software development for the Indian automaker. Four out of five choices are domestic artificial intelligence companies. Easework AI will automate purchasing workflows for indirect consumables using agent AI; Sarvam AI will deploy multilingual generative AI agents across customer touchpoints; Siftly will apply generative AI to brand visibility; CodeMate AI will accelerate the development of internal software applications. The fifth selection, MiniMines, will recycle end-of-life lithium-ion batteries and extract valuable materials, an area of increasing importance as Maruti Suzuki expands its electric vehicle portfolio. Over seven years, the program screened approximately 7,400 startups, attracting the participation of more than 250 and attracting 38 to participate as partners. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Maruti Suzuki India, said in a statement: “At Maruti Suzuki, we are actively working with startups to co-create innovative and practical solutions to tackle real business challenges. We are delighted to collaborate with five more startups. One of these startups, MiniMines, will support us in safely recycling end-of-life batteries, while the other four initiatives will help increase customer engagement and improve efficiency in our business operations.”
