Lindblad, great debut
The latest gem from the Red Bull Academy wants to immediately demonstrate what he’s made of. After finishing FP1 in Melbourne in the top-5, Arvid Lindblad he gave four tenths to his Racing Bulls teammate Liam Lawson and also put Isack Hadjar (who drives Red Bull) behind him, but in Australia he also made headlines for an episode that occurred in the pit lane.
At the start of FP2, which ended in eighth place, the Briton with Swedish and Indian roots did not lift his foot in front of George Russellwho wanted to slowly introduce himself into the fast lane of the pits and then launch into his lap. Lindblad, knowing he had precedence over his much more popular compatriot, drove straight ahead, damaging the front wing of the Mercedes driver, who was forced to return to the pits.
The video

The race commissioners agreed with Lindblad: “It was in the queue while Russell was waiting to enter the fast lane, with a small part of it sticking out into the fast lane. Appendix L, Chapter IV, of the FIA International Sporting Code, and the Race Director’s Notes in point 15 give priority to cars already in the fast lane. Russell could have entered the fast lane only if there had been adequate space in the queue and without unnecessarily obstructing the cars already present in the fast lane.
It is clear, in this case, that there was no such space and that the collision was caused by Russell“. The first reprimand of the 2026 World Championship was therefore given to #63.
