Jerry Seinfeld is no stranger to rare Porsches, but one of his most personal machines—a 1971 911S he sent to RUF in Germany for a complete rebuild—is now up for auction. The car spent three years at RUF’s Pfaffenhausen headquarters getting a full mechanical and cosmetic transformation. What started as a classic 911S emerged as a meticulously engineered driver’s car that blends old-school charm with RUF’s precision tuning.
Originally finished in Gemini Blue Metallic, the car looks nearly stock at a glance, but almost every part has been touched or reimagined. Seinfeld bought it in 2008 and kept the spirit of the early 911 alive while giving it modern hardware underneath. Now, this piece of Porsche and comedy history is looking for its next owner. The current high bid is $550,000 on the Bring a Trailer auction site.
The RUF rebuild
RUF stripped the 911 down to bare metal and reinforced the chassis before flaring the rear arches and repainting it in its original Gemini Blue. Under the decklid sits a 3.4-liter twin-plug flat-six with electronic fuel injection, individual throttle bodies, and red velocity stacks—an engine far more advanced than anything Porsche offered in 1971. Power goes to the rear wheels through a custom six-speed manual gearbox with a hydraulic clutch, giving the car a more contemporary driving feel while keeping the engagement of a classic air-cooled setup.

The suspension was overhauled with RUF-spec Bilstein components, a G50 rear torsion tube, and 930-style disc brakes with drilled rotors. A RUF exhaust system and upgraded oil coolers round out the mechanical updates. It rides on satin-black Fuchs wheels wrapped in fresh Pirelli Cinturato tires, giving it a stance that’s both aggressive and period-correct. Inside, the cabin mixes vintage details—like Pepita cloth seats and a Blaupunkt radio—with lightweight door panels and modern gauges bearing RUF branding. Even the odometer tells a story: just 2,300 miles have been logged since the build was finished.
Provenance and presentation

Chassis 9111300545 was originally sold through a Colorado dealership and stayed with one family for nearly three decades before Seinfeld’s purchase. After its RUF transformation, the car returned to California, where it’s now being sold with a clean title in the owner’s LLC name. With its factory color, tasteful modifications, and Seinfeld ownership history, this RUF 911S stands out as one of the most distinctive early 911 builds to hit the market.
