Hubject has announced a strategic partnership with fast-charging provider Electra to integrate the French company’s high-power charging network into the Hubject intercharge eRoaming platform. The collaboration enables ISO 15118-based Plug&Charge functionality, allowing compatible EVs to charge automatically without the need for apps, RFID cards, or payment terminals.According to the press release, Electra currently operates more than 500 charging stations and over 3,000 active charging points across nine European countries. Its expansion plan aims for 2,200 stations and 15,000 points by 2030.“We are pleased to welcome Electra to our intercharge network,” said Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject. “Their focus on high-power charging solutions aligns perfectly with our mission to provide EV drivers with convenient, reliable charging options. By enabling both eRoaming connectivity and Plug&Charge functionality, this partnership makes EV charging as simple as traditional refuelling.”“This partnership marks a key milestone between two European players committed to seamless electric mobility,” said Aurélien de Meaux, CEO of Electra. “Together with Hubject, we are combining our expertise to simplify the charging experience across the continent.”So far, Electra has mainly been active in France and Belgium. In Germany, the company opened its first HPC site only this May – in Gräfelfing near Munich. A second location in Dortmund followed. The French rely on a unique site concept, whereby additional masts between hyperchargers not only illuminate the area at night but also show occupancy of charging points from a distance. In parallel, Hubject has entered a separate partnership with Icelandic platform provider eONE, marking its first Plug&Charge implementation in the countrs. The technology will be deployed initially on Orkan’s network of 19 high-power sites, capable of delivering 300–500 kW across Iceland’s main travel routes, with full rollout expected by the end of Q1 2026.“Iceland represents exactly the kind of forward-thinking market where Plug&Charge technology can make an immediate impact,” said Hahn. “With some of Europe’s highest EV adoption rates and a grid powered almost entirely by renewable energy, Iceland has built the foundation for truly sustainable transportation.”Hafrún Þorvaldsdóttir, CEO of eONE, added: “We are very proud to be the first service provider in Iceland that can deliver the Plug&Charge user experience. With Plug&Charge, it becomes as easy as just plugging the car in and the system does the rest.”hubject.com (Electra), hubject.com (eONE)
