Entries include a rare BMW E38 Hartge H5SP, ‘no reserve’ Aston Martin Oscar India
and Don Draper’s ‘Mad Men’ Cadillac Coupe Deville
Hampson’s is inviting entries for its annual flagship sale of classic, performance and supercars at the Oulton Park Gold Cup on Sunday 27 July. The Gold Cup is the Cheshire circuit’s headline event, a three-day nostalgia fest featuring an incredible array of historic race machinery, with the Hampson auction an enormously popular element of the weekend. With the huge crowds attending the Gold Cup, it’s a fabulous opportunity for vendors to showcase their vehicles to an enthusiast audience.
Entries include a 1978 Aston Martin V8 Oscar India, which has been cherished by its current – and only its fourth – owner for nearly 28 years. This fine example of an unusual representative of the marque – just 291 were built – is offered at No Reserve.

The line-up also features a rare 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB ‘Vetroresina’. One of just 154 right-hand-drive examples built, it has been cared for by its current owner for 31 years. This prancing horse is now champing at the bit to find a new stable and carries an estimate of £80,000-£100,000.
Another rarity is the 1984 BMW E28 Hartge H5SP. The H5SP conversion of this highly collectable and powerful performance saloon was carried out when the car was new in 1984 by UK Hartge  concessionaires Griffin Motorsport. This included a 268bhp M30 engine upgrade, enhanced suspension and interior, plus the distinctive Hartge bodykit and decals. The sale estimate for this very desirable car is £40,000-£50,000.
Fittingly for a sale held at a major historic motorsport event, a number of competition cars will go under the hammer. They include a 1988 Renault 5 GT Turbo Cup car with period race and hill climb history that’s now eligible for Motor Racing Legends’ Historic Touring Car Challenge, offered at no reserve, and a 1994 Renault Clio Williams Cup Challenge car. On of just three original Mark Fish cup cars built, it has already enjoyed a career in historic racing, winning the BARC Tin Tops Championship in 2013 (£15,000-£17,000).
American car fans can choose between the wonderfully sleek styling of the low-slung 1949 Cadillac Fastback Coupe (£30,000-£35,000) and the actual 1965 Series III  Cadillac Coupe Deville driven by Jon Hamm’s ‘Don Draper’ character in the later series of the hugely popular multiple Emmy award winning TV series ‘Mad Men’ (£25,000-£35,000). Or perhaps the very pretty 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible might catch their eye. Recently imported from California, this fine example of the original pony car is offered at no reserve.
High performance in SUV form comes from the 2023 Lamborghini Urus Perfomante (£200,000-£250,000). Boasting an incredible 666hp power output from its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, this one-owner car has covered just over 10,000 miles since it was registered in March 2023.
Lotus fans have two representatives of the Hethel marque to delight them. The 1998 Espirit V8 Turbo SE
is enthusiast-owned and maintained to the highest possible standard. This superb example of the legendary 175mph supercar has a full service history (£40,000-£50,000). The 2010 Evora has also been much cherished, with the vendor describing it as ‘driving superbly’ (£20,000-£25,000).
Other entries in what promises to be a diverse sale with wide appeal to enthusiasts include a classic ‘hot hatch’ – a 1994 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9. With just 45,000 miles covered from new, and benefitting from sought-after factory extras including air conditioning and power steering, the ‘pug’ is offered at £15,000-£17,000. Another Gallic icon heading to Oulton Park is the 1972 Citroen DS Special. Charming in pale yellow and white livery, it is offered at no reserve.
Yellow is also the colour of choice for the superb 1994 Toyota MR2 Turbo. The ultimate expression of MR2, midengined 1990’s cool, it is highly original (estimate £12,000-£14,000). Lovers of that summery hue also have a very rare and unusual car to consider – a pale yellow 1963 Auto Union Universal 1000. Supplied new to the South African market this right-hand-drive three-door estate features front ‘suicide doors’ and is one of just three examples known to be on UK roads. It is offered at no reserve.
A significant number of lots are offered at no reserve. They include three very collectable ‘fast Fords’. The 1987 Capri 280 Brooklands is powered by the potent 2.8-litre Cologne V6 engine and features the metallic Brooklands green paintwork, red and white pinstripes and ‘280’ decals which make this special edition so eye-catching. And the 1976 Mk 2 Ford Escort 1600 GL features original ‘big tunnel ‘factory transmission configuration, with more recent upgrades including Gaz Gold adjustable suspension, a full 1600 Sport exhaust system and RS1600 steel wheels. Bringing things up to date is the 2003 Ford Focus RS MK1
A fast Ford of an unexpected type on the ‘no reserve’ list is the resto-mod 1965 Anglia 105e. The mechanical specification – described as ‘mind-boggling’ – includes a 2.1-litre four-cylinder engine with Weber 48S carburettors and CTM full race spec. head. The ‘blue oval’ is also well represented by the beautifully-presented 1989 Ford Sierra XR4x4, which has had just two owners in the past 25 years
Also on the ‘no reserve’ list is the 1934 Bentley 3½ Litre Special Sports Roadster. This is a very eye-catching car, with partial wood-clad bodywork which has been fully refurbished, as has the green leather interior.
