Shakedown leader With a flash in the afternoon session on Friday, Lewis Hamilton finished ahead of all five days of Formula 1 testing in Barcelona. The seven-time world champion with his Ferrari SF-26 stopped the clock at 1’16.348, the best time of the entire Shakedown, faster even than George Russell’s Mercedes, which had achieved a 1’16.445 on day-4.
Also pleasant is the reliability of the SF-26, which with Hamilton completed 67 laps – equal to 312 kilometers – without any problems. Hamilton’s comment Lewis Hamilton analyzed his Friday and the entire Barcelona Shakedown as follows: “It’s been a really enjoyable and productive week. A lot of work has been done over the winter, both personally and by the whole team, and it’s good to see this commitment reflected in the mileage completed without any major hitches. Driving in wet conditions initially proved to be an invaluable experience, especially with a new car, and overall we’ve had a solid start. There’s still a lot to learn and a lot of work to do, but the atmosphere within the team is good and I see everyone very focused. We will take home everything we have learned and we will analyze the data carefully preparing for the Bahrain tests.”
