Two phenomena From one icon to another. Usain Bolt, who was perhaps the most legendary and strongest sprinter in the history of athletics and who still holds the world record for 100 and 200 meters, is a big fan of Lewis Hamilton. The two were the protagonists of an epic skit on the podium of the 2017 US GP, now nine years old, replicating together the iconic celebration that the Jamaican phenomenon exhibited after his successes; that, looking at it with today’s eyes, seems like another geological era for F1. Hamilton, from the undisputed and absolute master he was at the time, has now transformed into a driver in difficulty, desperately seeking redemption after a disastrous first year in Ferrari, who is fighting – even before returning to the top – to be able to continue his career in the Circus after 2026. Returning to the top In an interesting interview given to his colleagues at RacingNews365, however, Bolt, as a true and faithful fan, said he was sure that Hamilton will also be able to react to this difficult period and return protagonist, despite the passing of the years and the advent of increasingly young and hungry rivals: “It will always be difficult – acknowledged the Jamaican – but as a person who knows what it takes to get to the top, I know that there is nothing perfect. But it is much easier to get back to the top, because you know the job and you know what you have to do to get back to the top. From my point of view I know that it will be difficult for Lewis. It will take him at least two years to really feel at ease, settle in and get used to the Ferrari. But I don’t see I’m looking forward to the next seasons: he’ll really come back to the fore.” Bolt then responded without delay to the question about Hamilton’s ‘positioning’ among the greats of Formula 1: “Is he the greatest of all time? Yes, definitely, without a doubt. I can’t wait for him to get back to the top, because, as I said, he knows what it takes to get there and to stay there.”
Hamilton, even Bolt is rooting for you: “He is the GOAT, he will return to the top”
