Renault has started rolling out Google’s Gemini AI assistant in vehicles equipped with the openR link multimedia system, with a phased wireless rollout starting on June 15, 2026. The optional upgrade replaces Google Assistant across Renault’s European range and selected international markets at no extra cost. Gemini offers contextual conversation management, handling complex multi-step requests without the need for memorized command phrases. Supported functions include direct vehicle control covering air conditioning, navigation, radio and settings, as well as access to live EV range data for route planning.
