SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) has just officially launched the all-new 2026 Wuling Starlight 730 in China, after announcing the model’s production start in August, which became the automaker’s 8,000,000th MPV built.

General Motors’ second joint venture in China launched the 2026 Wuling Starlight 730 in the country’s domestic market, revolutionizing the entry-level MPV segment with a seven-seater model that stands out as the only one in its class with three different powertrain options and sliding rear doors. The 2026 Starlight 730 revives the ‘730’ nameplate from SGMW’s discontinued Baojun MPV with a cutting-edge NEV format.
“The ‘730’ nameplate holds a special place in SGMW’s history as one of the most beloved family vehicles in China,” said Executive Vice President of SGMW, Vincent Wong. “With the launch of the all-new Wuling Starlight 730, we are carrying that legacy into a new era of electrified mobility. The new model embodies our ongoing commitment to deliver versatile, high-quality, and affordable transportation solutions for modern families,” he added.
The all-new 2026 Wuling Starlight 730 is launching in the Chinese market with a range of four variants across Comfort, Elite, and Luxury trim levels – the latter available with a plug-in hybrid or a fully electric powertrain. Each trim level features its own unique finish and front-end design distinctions between the combustion engine and EV variants, as well as a comprehensive suite of technology and safety features within its flexible 2+2+3 three-row cabin.
Mechanically, the 2026 Wuling Starlight 730 is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5L I4 engine that develops 130 kW or 174 horsepower and 290 Nm or 214 pound-feet of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic. The PHEV combines a naturally aspirated 1.5L engine with an electric motor and a battery pack, offering an electric-only range of 125 km (78 miles) and a combined driving range of over 1,100 km (684 miles). The EV uses a single electric motor powered by a 60 kWh battery with a range of 500 km (311 miles) on a single charge.
The 2026 Wuling Starlight 730 is now available for sale at Wuling dealerships in China, reintroducing the Wuling brand to the highly popular entry-level MPV segment for the first time with a NEV model and a body style featuring dual sliding doors, previously exclusive to larger models. Furthermore, the Starlight 730 stands out with best-in-class comfort, advanced technology, and driver assistance features.
