Michael Schumacher, the Belgian Grand Prix and the ’90s: on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit the German achieved real successes precisely in that period, which seems to be partly connected to this month with the auction sale of two cars belonging to the ‘Kaiser’. While his Benetton B192-05, with which he won his first career GP in 1992, will soon be auctioned online, another sale will take place in Paris on Wednesday 28 January, this time managed by RM Sotheby’s. This time there will be the Ferrari 310B available to collectors, a single-seater dating back to 1997 and with which Schumacher took part in the qualifications of the Belgian GP that year. According to what was indicated by the British auction house, the chassis was used exclusively for the fight for pole position at that GP, before being reused by Eddie Irvine for the Italian and Austrian GPs. In addition, the single-seater remained available for the subsequent Luxembourg and Japanese GPs, but only and exclusively as a mule, without ever taking to the track. Sold by Ferrari in 1999, the car has made appearances at several public events, including the famous 2019 Goodwood Festival to celebrate Schumacher’s 50th birthday. Again according to RM Sotheby’s, the value of the single-seater is estimated at between 5.5 and 7.5 million euros.
