Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Northern Ring Motorway Management has completed the “Motor Friendly Barrier System” project, which is based on trust with the motto “The Driver Makes Mistakes, But the Highway Forgives”. Biker-friendly barriers are known around the world as “motorcyclist protection barrier” or “motorcycle friendly barrier”. With the spread of these practices, road infrastructure will become safer for motorcycle users, and the number of accidents and serious injuries will decrease. This application is a very important step that increases not only physical safety, but also driver awareness and public health.
Energy Absorbing Systems Protect
More than 6 million motorcycle drivers travel on highways in Türkiye. However, motorcycle accidents pose a serious risk to road safety. “Biker-Friendly Barrier System” aims to prevent the driver from getting under the barrier and hitting the pole or hitting sharp edges. This special design increases safety for motorcycle users by adding protective panels to standard steel guardrails, high energy absorbing systems and minimizing sharp edges.
