When the Lexus LX made its debut 30 years ago, it was a force to be reckoned with. That fierce reputation remains for the 2025 model year. For three decades the vehicle has been a product that guests consistently turn to for its refined style, laudable comfort and dynamic off-road performance.

The newest iteration of the luxurious SUV lives up to that legacy with enhancements and improvements that further strengthen its rich foundation, including the first-ever LX 700h. With a hybrid powertrain now available within the LX lineup and availability in five grades (Premium, F SPORT Handling, Luxury, Ultra Luxury and Overtrail), the LX caters to a variety of customer preferences.

From offering a hybrid powertrain to 8,000-lb towing capacity, there are new bells and whistles that will impress.

Here are five things to know about the first-ever 2025 Lexus LX 700h:

A First of Its Kind
With Lexus’ carbon-reduction efforts, the LX 700h is the latest hybrid offering to join the electrification lineup of hybrids, plug-in hybrids and battery electric vehicles. The new addition brings the brand to 12 electrified options from Lexus guests to choose from.

Adding a hybrid powertrain to the model allows Lexus to continue to meet the needs of its customers. Whether their journeys include off-roading or exploring a new adventure, guests will find the LX 700h equipped with impressive performance, thoughtful design and human-centered technology that will help them reach their destinations with ease.

What’s more, unlike Lexus’ other hybrid models, the hybrid system on the 2025 Lexus LX 700h includes both an alternator and a starter.

The starter enables an independent engine ignition in the event the hybrid system is inoperable, while an alternator powers the 12V auxiliary battery, allowing the vehicle to continue driving using only the engine.

Power Delivery
With a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine and a 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission (same as the LX 600), the LX 700h is powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery. This gives customers the agility they need to get to their next destination.

The hybrid system produces 457 horsepower, 583 lb.-ft. of torque, and has an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy rating of 20 mpg. Both on- and off-road are controlled by the twin turbochargers’ steady and consistent acceleration.

Off-Road Prowess
Tough terrain is no match for the LX 700h.

It’s equipped to handle a myriad of off-road conditions. The vehicle expands capabilities beyond high range by adding motor-driven power to the low range.

With the driver-selectable modes of the Multi-Terrain Select system, motor-only driving is possible in situations requiring precise throttle control, such as rocky paths, dirt roads and deep snow. This helps enhance off-road performance and handling.

A Luxurious Escape
While the exterior of the LX 700h is a masterclass in sophistication, the interior is just as striking.

The cabin offers the signature refined comfort, sumptuous interior elements and lavish amenities customers expect in a Lexus.

Driver-focused cockpit designs help instill confidence at every turn. With easy-to-access controls and information at their fingertips, customers can drive with more self-assuredness. Plus, the LX 700h offers ease of operation and grip specific to rough terrain. Also, like the NX, RX, TX and UXh, the LX 700h includes the shift-by-wire system for effortless maneuvering.

Need more space? No problem. Thanks to the battery placement, a shelf system with fold-flat capability is part of the LX 700h’s cargo space. This gives customers ample room to haul sports equipment, luggage and more. A center console cool box and rear manual sunshades have also been included as standard features to help maintain cool comfort.

The LX 700h is equipped with a waterproof AC inverter positioned under the center console, allowing for an external power supply of up to 2400W.

Upping the Ante
The LX is special for several reasons, and the Overtrail grade sets it apart. It’s available on the LX 700h and can be equipped as a two- or three-row configuration. This provides even more space for passengers, ideal for large families and road trips.

It can also tow up to 8,000 pounds, making it a perfect choice for hauling compatible trailers or campers. To add to the SUV’s ease and agility over uneven surfaces, the Overtrail grade has an electronically controlled front and rear locking differential, which enables the driver to lock as needed to help improve the vehicle’s wheel stability and traction over rough terrain.
