The Monegasque is chasing the title
“It would be a dream, but it’s too early to say too much, also because we have no idea of the potential of our opponents”. Charles Leclercin an interview granted to Autosprintthus answered the classic question of whether 2026 will be a good year for a Ferrari without a Drivers’ title since 2007 and a Constructors’ title since 2008.
This is Leclerc’s eighth season as a Ferrari driver having debuted at the wheel of the Ferrari in 2019. In 8 years Leclerc has actually been fighting to win the World title for half the season in 2022, too little for a crystalline talent who in 2025 had to chew bitterly given that it was Lando Norris who won the World Championship.
Ferrari was the fastest in the tests with Leclerc, but the Monegasque currently does not believe that the SF-26 is the leading force on the track, on the contrary: “We don’t know who’s really in front right now – added the Ferrari driver – Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull already seem well prepared, very strong. My feeling is that the four teams that recently fought for the World Cup are quite close, but Mercedes is perhaps a little further ahead. We are there, with Red Bull still a little above, I think. We are waiting for the real results in Australia.”
