Fernando Alonso’s Secret Pain Struggle Revealed

It has been revealed that Fernando Alonso, one of the experienced names of Formula 1, has been racing with serious back problems for a long time. It was claimed that the Spanish pilot, who retired from the race due to a “seat problem” in the Sprint race at the Canadian Grand Prix, used a special support system in Aston Martin.

The only statement made by the team for Alonso, who pulled over in the middle section of the sprint race, was a “seat problem”. However, according to reports in the Spanish press, the problem is not just a technical malfunction.

It is stated that Alonso, who has frequently talked about his back pain especially in recent years, has had more difficulties this season due to the high vibrations in the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team car. It is stated that the harsh vibrations that emerged during the integration process of the Aston Martin and Honda power unit increased the physical discomfort of the pilot.

According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, team engineers developed a special “inflatable lumbar support” system to reduce Alonso’s pain. It was reported that the air-supported pillows placed between the carbon fiber seat and the pilot’s back were inflated with the help of small tubes.

The report stated that the system had to be adjusted manually and that mechanics repositioned the support every time Alonso got into the vehicle. However, it was stated that the supports experienced millimetric shifts due to the harsh vibrations, curbs and impacts on the track surface that Formula 1 vehicles are exposed to at high speed, and this increased the pain again.

The 44-year-old pilot also confirmed his decision to withdraw from the Sprint race in Canada. In his statement after the race, Alonso said that the discomfort he experienced increased with each lap.

The Spanish driver used the following statements in his statement:

“We have this problem with the seat because I feel more uncomfortable with each lap. The seating position was not comfortable. We were far from the points and there was no chance of rain. So we decided to end the pain.”
