Chrysler Pacifica Grizzly Peak: off-road minivan may go into production

Chrysler is considering putting the Pacifica Grizzly Peak prototype into production, an unusual off-road minivan that could find its way among crossovers and motorhomes. The model was first shown in 2025 and, according to internal sources, the project gained momentum within the company.chrysler.com The main idea is to offer an alternative to traditional SUVs and large caravans. The Pacifica already has all-wheel drive, making it a solid foundation for an off-road version. This system uses a transfer case and a rear module with a clutch, which redistributes torque to the rear axle in case of loss of traction.chrysler.comThe prototype includes extensive suspension work: ground clearance increases by almost 7 centimeters, and BFGoodrich all-terrain tires are mounted on 18-inch wheels. The set is completed with a roof rack, additional lighting, expedition equipment and body protection. Inside, the rear seats are replaced by a travel-ready storage module or lounge area. Under the hood, it is expected to feature a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, with no hybrid option as the plug-in version will be eliminated in the next generation. This points to a commitment to proven mechanics versus electrification. If the project goes into production, Chrysler could create a new segment: off-road minivans. In a market saturated with crossovers, this format is surprising but logical: it combines practicality, space and off-road capabilities in one package, which can attract a new audience.
